Print Article

Across ASEAN, demand for automobiles has been rapidly growing and is expected to continue to increase for decades. As a result, demand for petroleum is also rapidly increasing along with CO2 emissions.  Electric Vehicle (EVs) have been proposed as a solution to the rising GHG emissions.  But is the region actually ready to handle a surge of EVs with the appropriate infrastructure and investments?

In this episode of ASEAN insight, Tara Bellwood, an ACICIS student intern, and Dian Lutfiana, an ERIA Research Associate, discuss targets and goals set by several ASEAN countries on the adoption of EVs and also the challenges it entails.
